ITAC is a not-for-profit serving the deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened, deaf-blind and speech-disabled communities. ITAC provides both the Illinois Relay phone service and an equipment program, which are required by state and federal law. The equipment is designed specifically for people who are having difficulty hearing on a standard phone system. To be eligible, you must be a legal resident of Illinois, have proof of landline and/or cellular phone service (prepaid cell phones are eligible) and the application must be signed by a medical professional that the applicant is unable to use a standard phone.
To apply, visit https://www.itactty.org to download an application. Your doctor will need to fill out a portion of the application. ITAC is a “specified voucher” program, which allows you to choose from equipment listed on the website. You will own the equipment, and it comes with a 3-year warranty.
