2023 "DIGITAL INCLUSION WEEK"
What is "Digital Inclusion Week"?
National Digital Inclusion Alliance started in 2015 with the focus to connect digital equity advocates across the country. Yearly, there is a week titled, “Digital Inclusion Week” that is centered around the awareness, recognition, and celebration of digital technology.
Beginning Monday, October 2nd and going through Friday, October 6th is “Digital Inclusion Week” across the United States.
Digital Inclusion refers to the activities necessary to ensure that all individuals and communities, have access and use of information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). This includes five elements:
- Affordable
- Internet – enabled devices that meet the needs of the user
- Access to digital literacy training
- Quality technical support
- Applications and online content designed to enable and encourage self-sufficiency, participation, and collaboration.
Benefits of Technology in Our Daily Lives:
- Quick access to information
- Simplifying tasks
- Providing entertainment
- Increased productivity and efficiency
- Increased life expectancy
During this nationally celebrated week, individuals share their digital inclusion actions and progress with media, among other actions.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to use technology to live, learn, work, and thrive, so now is the time to celebrate! Please join the National Digital Inclusion Alliance during October 2nd – 6th by sharing how you use technology in your daily lives and by promoting digital equity in your community.
