I am nominating this teacher because she offers to help all the time and every time I walk into her room I got a smile on my face. Thank you for everything you do for us kids! We all really appreciate it.
She helps me get my grades up and I get a lot of work done in her class. She sits there and makes sure I’m doing my work. She has helped not only me but a lot of students that were falling behind catch up.
He keeps me on track and helps me when I am falling.
She is retiring and we are going to miss her, she is a very sweet and hard caring teacher to her students and staff. I think she deserves this reward.
I'm nominating Ms. Davis because of her motivation and care for the programs that she's a part of. She's an absolutely vital part of the fine arts department, and the band wouldn't be the same without her as the director. She cares about students, makes music interesting and challenging, and enjoys working with fine arts. There's no way I couldn't nominate her.
She is such a nice educator and when we need help she will help. She always puts a smile on my face even when I'm not having a good day.
I'm not a really big fan of social studies but this year it might be one of my favorite classes, so I want to thank Mrs. Haar for making class so fun and interesting!
He always looks out for his student’s well-being and cares for each and every kid at Trimpe. He’s never failed to help kids reach their limits and he always knows a way to get his concepts into the heads of all kids so they're able to learn at their best ability. He is an overall amazing educator.
I am nominating this teacher because she has helped me so much this year. She helps me with my math and has helped me get my grades up. She is there when we need anything. When she is not having a good day, she is still very helpful. She is an amazing human and has helped me come so far in the math world.
Mr. Klaustermeier always knows how to make a kid smile. He gets to know his students and wants to know about their lives. We all feel that we can trust him. He makes sure that you’re not feeling down. Whenever we have an idea, he doesn’t throw the idea away he considers it and explains if it doesn’t work. So overall, this teacher makes our school proud and happy because the impression he gives everyone. He is very deserving of this award.
He has made an impact on my mental health. He got me back into therapy, and has accepted me as my authentic self.
Deana is a teacher that does NOT want the recognition. However, she is 100% in that classroom to help the students to become the best they can be. She is always looking at different ways to reach each individual student where they are in education and socially. I have seen her working at home countless times through the years on things for her students. And working with excitement, not dread because it is on her own time. This is not just a job to her but it is a heart-driven mission.
Mrs. Moore is kind and teaches really well. She helps everyone with their homework and gives her students extra time to do missing work. We have fun in her class every day and she makes Language Arts class the best! I believe that she deserves to be teacher of the year.
Mrs. Morgan was a huge inspiration in my life. She would always come into class and no matter what was happening in her life she would always make it to where you were the most important in her life to teach and help and give her knowledge towards you. She makes sure that she puts her 100% so that we kids will put our 100% in. Mrs. Morgan is a one-of-a-kind teacher and she always wants her students to achieve the best and get their best education they can.
I believe Mr. Pearce should be nominated because he is uplifting, helps people with homework, and missing assignments. He also coaches wrestling, so he inspires people to join the team or to be in sports. He’s the nicest and is the best teacher I know.
I pick Anne Peuterbaugh because she is one of my favorite teachers. She is helpful, kind, sweet, funny and much more. She teaches junior high math, which can be difficult. However, she goes above and beyond every day to make it fun and understandable for her students. She tutors students after class, is quick to respond to emails, and is quick to offer an encouraging word to her students. Mrs. Peuterbaugh gets excited to watch her students grasp a concept and be successful. She is wonderful and instills confidence and a love for math into so many students!
She is a very good health teacher that deserves this award!

The best PE teacher I’ve ever had!
She is the best teacher. She has a smile on her face all of the time. No matter what she was doing she took the time out of her day to help people who need it. She was always honest when we ask questions. After we finished all of our work she would always find something to do so no one got bored. She also likes to make competition were we face off against other hours and who ever won would get a prize for working hard. Overall I think Mrs. Schaft should win because she is the best teacher you could ask for.
She is a very good teacher that helps me with my homework so that I get good grades.
Mrs. Stevens goes above and beyond for her students. While being a hybrid teacher, she still manages to check in with her students every day. She reminds them of assignments and checks to make sure that all of her students' assignments are turned in and reaches out to them when a student of hers has something missing for another teacher. She is willing to help her students with any class, even if she is not the main teacher in that class. She is also very easy to contact if I as a parent needs something. She will find out information for me when I come to her with questions or concerns. This is rare to find in a secondary level teacher.
She’s nice and is a really good person and teacher. She helps everyone learn including me. She deals with the most difficult students through hard times. She’s a great teacher and deserves it more than anyone.
She’s nice and always willing to help students. She is also very interactive. She’s the best!
She talked me into getting my grades up. She made calendars and papers to put missing assignments on. I got my grades up thanks to her!
She makes my day better and makes it easier to learn. She gives me opportunities and she deserves to have this award.
I'm nominating this teacher because when I am in her classroom she helps me with my school work and she is a nice teacher.
She has put her heart and soul into making this year as successful as possible for our children. She spent most of her summer and the days leading up to the beginning of school planning lessons, modifying her classroom space, and figuring out how to allow every child to still use all the supplies and hands-on learning tools needed. Our class has been in person since the beginning of the school year and Mrs. Grigg was 100% supportive of getting and keeping our kids in school. She has risen above and beyond any expectation we could possibly have for an educator. She is giving these kids a phenomenal starting foundation for their education. She deserves an award such as this to recognize her for the wonderful person she is.
We are so thankful for Mrs. Grotefendt!! She has gone out of her way to provide her students with a fun learning environment. She finds ways to get the kids excited about learning. As challenging as this year has been she has managed to make her classroom a happy, safe, welcoming environment for her kids. My girls look forward to going to school and they both have blossomed under her care and guidance.
I am nominating Joanne Snyder who is a 1st grade teacher. She has been a wonderful mentor for my daughter coming back from not being in school for 6 months. My daughter is reading and writing and I know that wouldn't have happened if she would have stayed remote! Mrs. Snyder's positive attitude and loving character makes her a teacher that truly stands out!
We are very thankful for Mrs. Stearns!! In these challenging times she has provided her students with a happy, safe, and positive learning environment. She challenges her students every day to be the best that they can be. She knows just how much and how hard to push her students to be their best, but at the same time she shows them that she truly cares for each and every one of them. Along with reading, writing, and math, she also teaches her students how to be respectful. Under her guidance my daughter has really grown this year.
Mrs. Fritz is one of the best teachers for the Special Education teachers at South Macoupin Service Area. Our daughter has had some struggles with learning and staying focused in school. She first attended Staunton Elementary school when they had discovered she had a learning disability, and that is when Mrs. Fritz came in to help. This is her first year with Mrs. Fritz and we couldn't be happier with the progress our daughter has made and has come so far. Becky has gone above and beyond for all her students. School is now fun for our daughter and she is having fun while learning. Becky doesn't call the kids her students she calls them her Kiddo's and they truly are her kiddo's you can see the dedication and love Becky has for her Kiddo's. She deserves to get this award, she has earned it.
Valerie always makes the student feel like she really cares. She makes learning fun and does everything she can to help her students. She was the first teacher my niece had who she absolutely loved and loved going to school. Valerie helped her to not only be more confident in her school work but also to be more confident in herself. She is so much more than just a teacher; she is role model to each and every one of our children.
She has gone above and beyond to help my son. He is behind in reading and she is trying many different things to help him catch up. COVID has hit him hard in reading and she is working twice as hard to get him to where he needs to be.
I love this teacher! She is kind smart, clever, and knows how to solve a problem. She always has a good attitude even on bad days. If she is down we would cheer her up by doing something funny. I would do anything to meet her again in her 1st grade classroom.
I am nominating this educator because she is very caring. She shows that by always helping the school when they need the extra help. She is also a very funny person and always has good jokes that make her students smile. Mrs. Plovich is an outstanding person because she is always working and doing extra things for her students.
Jami is an amazing teacher! She loves her second grade kids like her own. My son has struggled with reading and being focused at school in years past. However, he is thriving this year because of her! She has made my son love school and I love her for that!
I am nominating Mrs. Schmidt because she is my favorite teacher. I love that she is very helpful, kind, and smart. I also love the way she teaches lessons. Mrs. Schmidt should be the teacher of the year.
She spends countless hours making sure all her students succeed. She goes above and beyond to assure all her students have the necessary means to be successful academically, socially, and emotionally. She gives 110% to each student who enters her classroom. She makes every child love school and treats them as if they were her own. She is simply the best!
Mrs. Brefeld sets the bar high. She is amazing. My son was in her class for kindergarten. She still reaches out and checks on him weekly and has offered to help him with remote learning and he is in a whole different school. I can’t explain how amazing she truly is. She won teacher of the year with you guys in 2019 and while I believe all teachers deserve a gold medal... she is one of a kind. We absolutely adore her dedication to not only my son but all her past and present students.
Karrie has been amazing. She treats her students like family and has been amazing teacher through the pandemic. She is legit one of the best teachers we have had and we are so thankful for all she has done and continues to do.

We are so grateful for Mrs. Lu Durbin. She is the best.
She is a very loving teacher.
Ms. Claire Johnson has humbly served the Bunker Hill School District as a special education teacher since 2013. During that time, she has modeled the traits of an excellent teacher, one who truly believes in the success of her students. The foundation of that success begins with building positive relationships, challenging her students with high-level, engaging questions, and putting the needs of her students first. The Bunker Hill School District proudly nominates Mrs. Claire Johnson as "Teacher of the Year."
I am so lucky to have Mrs. McElroy this year for Spanish. She makes learning a second language fun and easy to understand. I enjoy going to her class each day!

I'm nominating this teacher because he is the most relaxed and honest teacher that I have ever had. He is an amazing teacher who never fails to make me feel like I'm worthy of support. Ever since I took his class, I feel he has taught me how to be a lot more honest with myself and to others. Mr. Callies is my favorite because he acts more like a friend then a teacher. He is very deserving of this award.
I nominated this teacher because he provided me great learning experience. He was really friendly and made me feel welcomed. He gave me a chance at doing something I love which I appreciate thank you, Mr. Carlson.

She cares about students, makes music interesting and challenging, and enjoys working with fine arts. There's no way I couldn't nominate her.
Mrs. Gibson goes above and beyond the academic duties of a teacher. She is passionate about the subject she teaches and encourages her students to do the same. She makes sure that her students don't just understand those lessons, but the knowledge contained. She doesn't just expect students to regurgitate answers, but to retain them for their own betterment. She expects students to not just memorize facts about history, but to examine historical events in a way that makes her students into better Americans, and hopefully better people in general. For this reason, I would like to nominate her.
A very inspiring role model who is always there for anyone.
Mrs. Hawkins goes above and beyond for each student she has. She takes the time to get to know each student and really work with them to help them whenever they need.

She is one of the best teachers that really helped me when the time was needed. She is very much appreciated!
She is my son's special education teacher and is simply amazing. My son is a freshman and has autism and ADHD. I was a nervous wreck with him going into high school and she made me calm down and be able to go to work knowing that my son was well taken care of during his school day. She personally makes sure to let me know how his day is going and not just a bad day but also the good days. She makes herself available anytime I have a question or don't understand something. I absolutely love her and so does my son. She definitely deserves to be awarded and thanked for the amazing job she does.
Mrs. Hill has been there for me and hundreds of students throughout high school. She is the sole reason why other seniors and I are going to graduate. She is a caring soul and a kind person. She helps everyone that comes to her and she cares about what’s going on in the student’s lives. If you’re having a bad day she will talk to you about it. If you don’t feel comfortable talking about it, she will let you sit in her room and work on your assignments in silence. She doesn't get the appropriate recognition that she really deserves. She does so much for everyone and gets so little back. She deserves this award.
Mrs. Jakes is an amazing example of what students and parents would want in a teacher. Mrs. Jakes is organized, prepared, and teaches her material with passion. Mrs. Jakes is always there to listen to her students when they are frustrated or upset and will always give the best advice. She cares for student’s mental health as well as she allows students to take a moment and relax in her classroom. Lastly, Mrs. Jakes loves our school! I am nominating this teacher because of how he acts in the classroom and interacts with everyone. The students in his class have a lot of fun with him and he knows how to keep it fun while also keeping it under control. He is also a great choir teacher he makes us get ready and make sure we sound good for every concert we have!
I am nominating him because he has made big steps in my life for me to be more sociable, this went from me being an awkward guy that would never really talk to anyone unless they either came up to me and talked or if I trusted them enough to talk with them. His Public Speaking class changed everything for me; it allowed me to actually become more of a social person as it helped get over some of my anxiety. He’s a great teacher to come to if you have a problem and can make great connections to a student.
He makes the subject he teaches fun and includes every student to get into the lesson. Also, he’s very nice and has projects to make us more involved. My favorite teacher ever!
She is really nice and helps everyone out when they need it. If we are stuck on something she helps us.
Mr. McKinney thoroughly explains the ways to fully and surely finish our wood projects. He doesn't make us do certain cuts if we're not comfortable making those cuts. He will show us ways to make the cuts easier. He is also more than willing to help you with your personal projects and work on an innovative way to move grain from the field to the grain bins. In conclusion he is a major asset to the class. He brings real life situations to us that we can benefit by using later in life.
He deserves to receive the Teacher of the Year award!
I'm nominating this teacher because they've been there with me through thick and thin. They know when to set boundaries and have a great teaching style. Angie also helps out with the drama department, which is a lot of work and late nights. I wish I could repay her for all the good things she's done for me, but that would take forever. She's clearly one of the best teachers my school has to offer because she's a real person. She doesn't have a teacher persona around her students. I look up to and admire her.
She is an incredible teacher and great listener. She is always there for you in anyway and will always do her best to help you out. Having her as a teacher this year has been amazing and I wouldn’t choose anyone else for the job. She is extremely good at explaining and teaching. If there is any teacher that deserves this award I believe it is her!
I'm nominating this teacher because she always helps students, no matter if it is with schoolwork or other issues. She listens when you need her and always is there. She is a wonderful art teacher who teaches so well that many students have wanted to be in the art career field because of it. There are many students who find her as a guide in their life when problems happen because she can relate to so much and give you any advice you may need, even hard advice. She pushes students to be their best whether they believe or not and she believes in them.

Mr. Walters is patient and understanding and has been very flexible during this crazy pandemic! He is always helping me out and is always trying to make things easier in the classroom. He makes his classroom a place where you can ask questions and not be afraid and if you answer something wrong. He has helped me grow not only as a student but outside of the classroom as well. I hope I get more teachers like him in the future.
Mrs. Wiest is an extraordinary teacher. She goes above and beyond for her students every day. I don't think there is a single day where she has been in a bad mood. She is strong, witty, hilarious, kind, funny, and much more. English and writing has always been a strong point for me. Those who aren't so lucky are able to thrive when Mrs. Wiest is their teacher. Mrs. Connor sees the fun in everything and always makes class interesting. She has a great personality and is very fun to joke around with. She is nice when explaining things to us which makes it easy to learn. She has three kids of her own, a dance class that she teaches, and so many papers to grade all while still messaging us back if we need help at 9 pm. I have not met one person who says they don't like Mrs. Connor. She is just a wonderful person/teacher.

He is funny and tries to show physically representation when explaining how something works in science.
Mr. Lamore is an amazing teacher with such a big personality. It’s hard to teach science when you’re doing "remote learning" but he made it fun and exciting very day they are online. I would hear the students laugh and he was calling on different kids and all had the correct answers every time. They truly learn new things from him daily in a fun way and they can remember it all!
He is a very funny, honest, and amazing teacher. He always has his grading done, and always has good ideas. I am nominating this teacher because he makes learning fun. He helps you understand a problem in Math and will have you do your own problem. He makes us smile and feel good about ourselves if we don’t understand something.
She explains things in detail if her class doesn't understand. She solves problems and will talk to you one on one to help with other assignments. She also motivates her class to do their very best. She has a big heart for any and all students who walk in her class. I truly felt cared for and safe while in her classroom. She has never singled out a student and makes everyone feel welcomed. She was always there to help when needed even when we couldn’t be in class with her. Mrs. Athmer truly is the best teacher I’ve ever had.
Mrs. Koenig is a Special Education teacher that goes above and beyond for each and everyone one of her students and their families. My child with autism is not only surviving academically during this pandemic, he is thriving because she knows her students in and out, and was able to identify the best way to reach him during this trying time. Most importantly, my child is excited to go to school every day to learn because Mrs. Koenig has created a warm family environment in her classroom and works with other teachers to extend that into their classrooms when her students are able to push in with their neurotypical peers. She is amazing. We are beyond blessed to be able to have her as our son's teacher. She is more than just his teacher though; she has become part of our family.
Mrs. Pittman goes above and beyond for her 1st grade students. She takes each student's individual needs into consideration and works with them to obtain the most out of her classroom. My son struggles with focusing and staying in his seat. Mrs. Pittman has worked well with me and him to find accommodations that help him make it through the day. Mrs. Pittman allows my son to sit near the back of the room and to stand throughout the day if he needs to. She gives my son special jobs to do to help out around the room, and even asked how she can use some of what he learns in karate to remind him to stay focused in the classroom. We are truly thankful for having Mrs. Pittman as his first grade teacher!

She made my daughter feel special just as she did with all the other kids. When my daughter needed some extra help, she would give it. If she was having a bad day, she would take time to make her feel better. She always tried to find ways to make learning fun. I think I am speaking for everyone when I say that Mrs. Binney made our junior high years the greatest. She is always there for her students if they need extra help on work. If you ever need to talk about anything personal she is always the one you want to go to because she is so understanding and compassionate. I don’t think I would have made it through junior high without her!
She is the most compassionate teacher I've ever met! She just pours her whole heart and soul into her students. I wish I could duplicate her and have one of her in each and every grade forever so that every single student and parent got to enjoy and benefit from her mere presence!

She and her students started the sunshine club, where they hand out tears to teachers. She’s always friendly and my daughter, who’s not a student of Mrs. Good, tells me daily how excited she is when she gets to see and greet Mrs. Good.
Mrs. Helling has been an angel in disguise during this pandemic. She is incredibly organized and encouraging towards her students. Unfortunately, my son had to go to a full time remote schedule this school year, but Mrs. Helling has made this transition so smooth. We appreciate everything she does for her students. She truly goes above and beyond for the children. It takes a very special person to be a teacher, especially during a pandemic, and her caring attitude is very evident.
Mrs. Ingram shows her love for teaching in many ways. She ensures every kid gets the attention that they need and easily transitions during this difficult year. Outside of her lesson plans, she sends notes to the kids to let them know how special they are to her and how great they are doing in her classroom. I have enjoyed all the teachers thus far in my kid’s school years, however, I have never had so much communication come from them as I do with Mrs. Ingram. She truly is a great asset to this school district!
She goes above and beyond for the students in her class. She is always emailing reminders and keeping everyone up to date. The students in her class have excelled in reading and are learning daily. I couldn’t ask for a better teacher and support system for my child.
She is very patient, goes the extra mile to ensure her students understand the material, and never loses her cool with them. She communicates well with the students as well as parents, keeps us informed of everything going on, and makes sure to clarify any misunderstandings that may arise. Her energy and positive attitude is genuine and unmatched!
Shultz, Mary Jo
My daughter is in 2nd grade and a 100% remote learner. Mrs. Shultz has made remote learning fun and engaging. She stepped in a 2nd Grade position after teaching 3rd for so long. She is doing a great job. We were worried about our daughter feeling left out, not being in school but Mrs. Shultz makes sure to celebrate birthdays and holidays just like in school. The kids don’t miss out. They have learned that different is ok. In the time of COVID the world is chaotic and mixed up. Thank you Mrs. Shultz for making remote learning “normal”.
Mr. Stille has gone above and beyond this year to make sure his students were helped during the pandemic. He is always making sure the kids are taken care of and no one feels left behind. This school year is definitely something to remember and he's making the most of it for his students. He is truly one of the best at Parkside!
Courtney is an amazing teacher! She has the patience of a saint, takes extra time with the children, and still manages a home with her own children. She has had all three of my boys, and I couldn't be more excited that they were able to all have such a wonderful teacher and role model!
Mrs. Wooten has been so amazing during my daughters first year of school. Mrs. Wooten has been so awesome doing everything she could do to make it as normal as possible and making her students feel comfortable and welcomed. She has truly been a blessing this year.
Mrs. Brown has not only made a huge impact on my daughter but me, as well. She is my oldest daughter’s kindergarten teacher and she was also mine! Mrs. Brown goes above and beyond to make learning fun and exciting for the children. This is such an important thing when starting out because it will help them stay excited to learn all throughout their education. This year has been tough with bouts of at-home learning, but she managed to keep the children on task and even to excel! She truly deserves to be recognized for all she has done and will continue to do.
She is absolutely the kindest and caring person I have ever met. She has a heart of gold and is fabulous at her job. Children respond to her and she loves her job. She is a mom of three and a Rock star of the 2nd grade. She has truly done wonders with my son and I just love her.
She goes above and beyond to help the children and parents to understand.
Mrs. Nungesser went above and beyond during remote learning. She met with the class online 3 times a day and did streaming lessons every day. She would then do one on one meeting with the kids privately if they needed something. She also made the meetings fun and played games and always asked each student to "tell her something good." I can't imagine the time she had to put in and make sure that every kid was on track. My son is very fortunate to have such a wonderful and caring teacher!!
Mrs. Hailstone is an amazing teacher. She helps my classmates and I understand the classwork we are given. She also teaches us things we can use in life. She is more than just a teacher to me; I feel that she is a really close friend. I know that she is busy with other things, but she always takes time to help us whenever we need it. Mrs. Hailstone always puts me in a good mood and gets me ready to learn. I am very thankful to have met her.
Señor Larsen is a great teacher. He interacts with his students and always starts the class with “¿Que pasa?” so we can share what’s going on in our lives and have a fun discussion. He cares very much about what he’s teaching and he does it in a way where students can actually enjoy the learning. He is very understanding and caring to every student no matter who or what is going on. He has 3 young children and he’s surely tired, but he still works very hard to provide us with a good class as well as coaching boys’ soccer.
She is extremely understanding to all students, makes classes and labs really fun, and is a really good volleyball coach.
He has been one of the best teacher that I have had since I been in high school. He has always been one of the funniest teachers that I have had.
Mrs. McCalla is not only a great teacher but also a great FFA advisor. She spends countless hours to ensure that her students succeed. She truly cares about her students. Because of all her hard work, her amazing effort, and her reputation of always going above and beyond for her students, I think she deserves not only this award but also the world.
Mr. Shor has made a huge impact on not only me but many of my peers. He's an outgoing teacher who really tries to connect with his students. He cares and does anything he can to make someone happy.
Mr. Michael Adams is so very deserving of this award. He serves as the band/music teacher for the entire Bunker Hill CUSD8 school district. He is able to plan and implement dynamic and engaging lessons for the wide span of grade levels, K-12. He has a true passion for what he does and every student that has him absorbs that passion for music and band. Their lives are forever changed for the better because Mr. Adams made that connection.
Ms. Burns is a dynamic teacher with high expectations of her students. She challenges them to fulfill their utmost potential in engaging ways. While oftentimes my son may complain that Ms. Burns is "hard", he has also grown so much this year and understands himself and what he is capable of so much more than ever before. Throughout this trying school year, Ms. Burns has been amazing with staying connected to families, providing information, and continuing to foster student growth. She was always energetic and enthusiastic during her live Zoom sessions with her students ensuring that every student was an active participant in his/her learning. Ms. Burn's tireless work ethic and determination to help her students succeed should be rewarded.
Mrs. Dugan is innovative and has absolutely shined throughout a VERY challenging year. She is thoughtful and truly cares deeply about each and every student. She has provided support day and night for months on end. She is compassionate, smart, funny, and most importantly shows her students love in a very unsettling time. She finds their strengths and builds in that with each individual. Mrs. Dugan is so deserving of this award.
I am nominating Mrs. Feco because she helps kids whenever they need help. When we were remote, she would send a message every day to help us get logged onto the Zoom. She is also a really fun teacher. We would get prizes every week when we did well on projects and quizzes. She also tries to get our recesses outside so we can take a break from our masks. Mrs. Feco is a great teacher!
She makes an awesome learning environment for kids! She teaches you many things, but makes it fun! She has a true passion for teaching, is enthusiastic and goes beyond just teaching from the curriculum. She teaches them about kindness, loving one another, and how to have fun while learning! Mrs. Gockel loves to be herself and the kids love to laugh with her! She also has taken the craziness of this school year very patiently, helping the students not stress. Personally, she has helped my daughter's love of reading grow even more this year. Everyone needs a Mrs. Gockel in their life and we are so lucky we have had her not once, but twice!
Ms. Goebel has gone above and beyond for my preschooler. During COVID, she would make special trips to bring supplies so my daughter would continue to learn. She is always available for questions and concerns and teaches every child at the level they are currently at.
He is helpful with his students and he makes learning fun!
Mr. Manar is a wonderful first grade teacher. This year just proves his unlimited patience, care, and compassion for all of his students. During our remote time, it was pleasing to listen to his direction and control of the students as they navigated through their daily lessons. Mr. Manar has made this year perfect for my 1st grader.
I received this "shout out" for Ms. McAfee via email from one of her fellow colleagues this year: "Erin has been so very helpful to me. When we started this remote/Covid//hybrid journey, Erin was there every step of the way. I was ready to just stay in my old ways and she challenged me. Although Erin is young enough to be my daughter, I look up to her”. This is the type of team player Ms. McAfee is at Wolf Ridge Education Center. She is always willing to help her fellow colleagues in any way she can. She goes above and beyond in her role as our Reading Specialist. She makes a difference for our staff.
She’s always positive and helps out everyone. She has been my favorite teacher since I been in her class. I’ve made a lot of memories from being in her class.
Ms. Rull is an all-time favorite at Wolf Ridge! She has so much energy and love that shines through and through. Her students learn so much as she teaches them from the heart every year, but even more so this past year. She is creative in her lessons and works hard to touch every student at each of their learning levels. Ms. Rull deserves to be Teacher of the Year!
Teaching junior high students is no easy task! I truly believe for those that are amazing at being a junior high teacher that it is a true gift and calling that they have no control over. Ms. Lori Schmidt has that gift. She loves her job and loves her junior high students. While she tries to assert that she is strict and no-nonsense, Ms. Schmidt would honestly do anything for her students and provides them with grace for days. She gives them second and third chances often, allowed redoes, and gradually teaches them responsibility. This is what junior high is all about.
When I think of Keith the words authentic and dependable come to mind. Keith is an authentic man. He has a lot of input from others personally and professionally but always seems to be guided by some inner peace and is committed to his own values. The teachers at Wolf Ridge trust him and value his opinion. Teachers have depended on Keith to help "catch up" with the new things that have come their way with technology integration throughout the pandemic. He is always there to help anyone on our staff.
Kristi is an awesome teacher! She goes above and beyond for her students and makes EVERY DAY fun for my kindergartner! My child adores her and looks forward to seeing her every morning at school. She deserves this award over and over!!
Pam Kleckner is a phenomenal preschool teacher. Pam goes above and beyond for her 3 classes of PK students and school. She plans amazing activities, field trips, and is often seen coming into school very early and leaving very late. Her kindness and patience with students touches hearts and I know she leaves a lasting impression in the lives of her students. This past year has been especially difficult on our Early Childhood program. With the COVID mandates and shutdowns, the Early Childhood program was forced to scale back. Director Pam Kleckner stepped up taking on the teaching and administrative responsibilities of 2 employees. She has done so with a serving heart.
Mitteis, Mary Ann
Mrs. Mitteis has been an amazing blessing to our family this year during a HUGE transition and the pandemic. No student ever wants to make a school change but due to the pandemic and scheduling our kiddos enrolled in Zion-Staunton. Mrs. Mitteis was beyond welcoming from day one, she made everyone feel comfortable with a big change. She assured us that our students would transition perfectly and stayed in constant communication with us.
I watch my husband go out of his way for his students on a daily basis. He makes it fun for them to learn. With COVID, he would deliver homework to those that couldn’t make it to the school and worried about how they were doing. He takes phone calls late at night to make sure his students get the help they deserve. He’s amazing, has a heart of gold, and gives more than most to make sure his students are safe, happy, and feel comfortable with him. I wish more teachers were like him. He goes above and beyond for his students. He has a special connection with each and every student he has. That doesn’t stop just in his classroom. He has a connection with students in other grades and levels as well. He also goes above and beyond in after school programs as well. He has been a coach for many different sports. He is amazing for this school and has done many great things for it.
